PERTUBUHAN KEBAJIKAN AMAL KOMUNITI HILIR PERAK

Location:

Perak River 

Dataran Sungai Perak, Durian Sebatang, Teluk Intan, Perak

Project Title:

Friends of Perak River

Project Progress:

This project aims to transform Dataran Sungai Perak into a vibrant area with great facilities for people to enjoy.

 

Kick-started in October 2021, the organisation has conducted 

  • regular clean-ups, collecting an estimated total of 940 kg of rubbish as of 9 January 2022. 

  • beautification activities including painted colourful pillars and planted more than 100 trees for landscaping. 

  • signboard installation to increase awareness through creative messages

  • participation in webinars and forum

 

The result of their hardwork has earned the organisation an Appreciation Certificate by the Department of Irrigation and Drainage Hilir Perak District.

Project Title:

Sayangi Sungai dan Alam Sekitar 

(Love Our River and the Environment)

Project Progress:

The programme’s objective is to raise awareness and instill love and care towards rivers amongst elementary school students. This project also aims to encourage participation of students and teachers in creating the book “Sayangi Sungai” aims at educating everyone on how to care and maintain our rivers.

Project Title:

River Monitoring and Conservation Through Community Empowerment

Project Progress:

This project aims to provide river care awareness and empower local students and community on river monitoring. The organisation successfully conducted River Monitoring and Conservation through Community Empowerment programme at Water Watch Penang (WWP) River Information and Education Centre in Penang. They also conducted an online Care for Our Water & River programme with school and university students. A total of 87 participants were empowered through these activities.

PPR Beringin in Kuala Lumpur

Project Title:

KRT PPR BERINGIN Lake Ranger & Community Garden 

Project Progress:

The project activity centered around managing a community garden established near the PPR Beringin housing area. The garden grows various types of herbs and vegetables such as Brazilian spinach. Several activities being conducted include:

  • Water quality monitoring at Wahyu Lake and Jinjang River which are sources to water the garden.

  • Composting from the collected food wastes to produce organic fertilizer for the garden.

  • Collecting bottles and used cooking oil for recycling and upcycling respectively

  • Re-establish the previously halted “Projek Kebun Sekolah” with Sekolah Agama Siraj and SJKC Jinjang 2.

Project Title:

Young Hydrological Scientist (YHS)

Project Progress:

This project aims to expose Standard 6 primary school students on water quality testing and to increase their awareness on the importance of maintaining river water quality through Young Hydrological Scientist (YHS) programme. A total of 50 students from 3 schools were identified and chosen to participate in the event, at their own respective schools. 

First of the series (30 June 2022) - Sekolah Rendah Islam (1) 

Second of the series (21 July 2022) - Sekolah Kebangsaan IPGM 

Third of the series (18 August 2022) - Sekolah Kebangsaan Oran

Project Title:

River care: In the new norms from school

Project Progress:

The project aims to increase awareness among students on the importance of clean river and empower students on planning and designing awareness campaign for the environment. The school has conducted various students-based activities including organising digital awareness campaign, online quiz,  newscaster competition as well as decked their corridor with information on river care.

Project Title:

PolliNature!

Project Progress:

Alliance of River Three has been successfully organising weekly Gotong Royong Education By Action (GREduAction!) for few years. To attract the interests and increase participation from the general population of Taman Melawati, PolliNature! was introduced to create awareness and educate the importance of biodiversity conservation and pollination. 

 

To date, the team successfully launched its PolliNature! webpage, nursery and distributes PolliNature! kits to those participated in their activities. They host quarterly online competitions and organise online PolliNature! Exhibition. The project also collaborated with nearby stalls and food courts to implement proper waste management in the area.

USM Health Campus, Kubang Kerian, Kelantan

Project Title:

Trash for Treasure (T4T)

Project Progress:

A group of students and lecturers set up a CAMPUS Ranger Programme at USM Health Campus to raise awareness about best waste management and reduce wastes end up in the landfill. The programme kickstarted with GEC provided Training of Trainers (ToT) on the zero-waste concept through the 4R2C approach. Since then, they have been successfully implementing recycling collection at recycling booth in the campus and will soon launch SMART Ranger Programmes at primary schools in Kubang Kerian.
